Seems like each time it snows I’m always late getting out with my camera. I don’t know if it’s because it’s too cold outside, or I’m exhausted from shoveling myself out, or just don’t feel like bundling up (sort-of) and going out. It’s really hard to say.

Last week we got snow. Lucky for me it wasn’t as bad as predicted…thank goodness! When I finally made it out to shovel (I actually waited until it finally stopped) it wasn’t bad at all. Later that day I started to think about going out a few days later to shoot…cool. Following morning the weather person said the new few days it will warm up a little which means if I waited too late I’ll … well you know the ending.

This time my ending was great. I drove out Luray, VA by ways of Front Royal VA. These parts of VA mountains are waiting for you. I actually saw two gentlemen on the side of the I-66 taking photographs…they knew today or no day. It wasn’t that cold (did have foot warmers on just in case) but it was nice and sunny…a beautiful day. There’s a park in Luray that I have accidentally been to before. I couldn’t get to that side of the park so I went to the other entry. With my tripod, ND filters I wanted to photograph the stream of water that goes through the town. Well I couldn’t actually get the right view/angle of the stream of water…but I did see a ton of ducks along the water. I mean it was like a family reunion 🙂 Ducks weren’t on my list but it worked out fine. I tried my best not to disturb them but it was hard getting around them. So I just set my tripod/camera down and took some really nice photographs of them. I think they were use to it because they posed for me very well 😉

Driving back towards Front Royal I just stopped along the way and took photographs. The farmlands and the rolling hills were just plain beautiful. The way the sun was gleaming down – I had to stop and enjoy all of it. At this time I handheld my camera. Even though I shot everything in RAW I converted to black and white in Adobe Lightroom. Gear used: Fujifilm X-Pro2, XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens.

We all know the seasons anymore are crazy. And if you enjoy photographing certain things, places, etc. don’t hesitate thinking it will be there another time or come back again. If all possible, grab your gear and go. If you don’t want to carry EVERYTHING it’s okay to downsize…but just go and have fun 😉
